A prestigious residential development in London’s Canning Town features acoustically sound acoustic doors from Cotswold Doors, which feature Norseal acoustic drop seals, helping them achieve the sound attenuation levels required by the designers.

Nestled in the heart of East London, Brunel Street Works is a cutting-edge development by Linden Homes with a bold design aesthetic that seamlessly blends form with functionality. Designed to provide 800 affordable homes, it boasts a striking blend of glass, steel, and sustainable materials, with an iconic facade. The interiors offer an oasis of modern luxury, where clean lines, open spaces, and abundant natural light create a serene atmosphere that is further enhanced by the building’s exceptional acoustic design. The development features an array of premium amenities, including state-of-the-art fitness facilities, beautifully landscaped communal spaces, and a rooftop garden offering panoramic views of the City.  The project has sustainability at its core, integrating innovative green technologies to minimise environmental impact and enhance energy efficiency.

Cotswold Doors provided a customised package of nearly five thousand BM Trada Q Mark door sets and ironmongery for the £120 million Brunel Street Works, ensuring that the high-quality, tailor-made doors would seamlessly complement the contemporary design of each living space while adding an element of tranquillity and luxury thanks to their exceptional acoustic properties. The skilled craftsmen at Cotswold Doors crafted a range of doors, including fire-rated and PAS 24 certified entrance doors and communal area doors, specifically tailored to meet the project's unique requirements. These doors were manufactured using the finest materials and finished to an exceptional standard, featuring veneer and paint, as well as Cotswold’s own door hardware, to guarantee durability and provide residents with secure and stylish entrances to their homes.

One of the key priorities for the apartment entrance doors at Brunel Street Works was to provide robust acoustic insulation, creating a peaceful environment for residents. To achieve this, Cotswold Doors incorporated Norseal NOR810S seals, discreet slimline drop seals that offer efficient acoustic insulation and protection against the passage of smoke. These spring-loaded and self-levelling seals provide effective sound attenuation of up to 35dB, as well as compliance with fire-resistance standards according to BS 476: Part 22 and smoke requirements per BS 8214. The NOR810S seals have successfully passed a rigorous 1,000,000 cycle test.

As part of the Brunel Street Works project, Cotswold Doors also used Norseal Pyroplex intumescent and NOR710 perimeter compression seals: the NOR710 seals were fitted around the head and jambs, enhancing the acoustic insulation provided by the drop seals. Designed with "dual air pocket technology" akin to triple glazing, these multi-purpose seals excel in applications that require both smoke and acoustic sealing. Capable of achieving an impressive 48dB sound reduction, the NOR710 seals can be retrofitted for ultimate convenience.
