Most days involve getting stuck into test evidence, answering technical queries, and producing drawings. I plan and take part in fire door tests, and get my head around all the standards and paperwork that come with the job.

Outside work, I’m either with family, out walking the dog, experimenting with laser engraving, or winding down with a sci-fi film and a beer.

Little-known fact: I won the 100m sprint and long jump at every sports day in secondary school. These days, attempting either would probably land me in A&E.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. Still do, to be honest.
