Brian Lathan 1970-2009

It is with great personal sadness that I write this memoir to one of my most precious employees, Mr Brian Lathan who sadly passed away today, Monday 27th April 2009 at the tender age of 38. Brian joined the company on 1st July 2005 where he soon made an impact on me with his enthusiasm and commitment to his role. He forged strong personal ties with his fellow warehousemen having a fabulous dry sense of humour and always a cheeky smile. His time with us was not always happy as he suffered personal challenges outside work in his life however you would not have seen Brian sad or downhearted, not at all. Brian was always fine, he often joked when I asked him if he was ok by saying 'I am ok, I am always ok'. Brian had a loyalty possessed by very few in today's world, a man who felt that once given a role he obviously and openly carried out the task in hand, once again always with a smile. How can I sum up Brian, well to those of us lucky enough to have known him knew he was very well liked and a pivotal part of a strong team in his place of work, he was totally respectful, someone I came to rely on and someone I could trust, Brian never let me down. Brian was a positive in my life and to those around him, part of our daily lives that I felt would always be there, he will be missed by me far more than I realized. It is said that behind every great man is a great woman, in this case behind every great company is a team of great individuals, Brian was up there at the top of this list and believe me our customers will miss Brian although you probably never knew him. I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Brian's family at this time of great loss, you are all in our thoughts. Rest well Brian, thank you for your time you gave to me which I deeply regret has come to an end. Ian Stalker

Tests just get better! 'Fire Rated Letterboxes get 30 or 60 minute option'

For the first time we are aware of Norseal can now offer a full 60 minute Fire Rating on our standard 30 minute letterbox! Tested at Warrington Fire Research Station the test officers were absolutely delighted in how the unit performed. The units ability has been enhanced by clever use of components and now carries a full 30 or 60 minute fire test certificate to BS476 part 20:22. Norseal see this as a major step forward in fire ratings within this difficult market sector, the advantages are obvious: - Smaller stockholding - Single sight lines for the whole site - Lower price for 60 minute version, now no increase in 30 minute rates - 60 minute letterboxes now tested in 44mm door core For more information please call our technical department and ask for our latest letterbox datasheet.

New Staff Members

Norseal are pleased to announce the joining of 2 new members of staff in the last month. Mark Newton joins our internal sales team alongside Kelly Houston to handle the increase in volume of calls we have seen over the last 12 months. Mark came from the Jewsons group after working 16 years for the builders merchants chain in the Matthew Charlton depot. Marks spare time as with so many other fathers is mostly taken up with his 3 children. Mark enjoys a varied lifestyle including getting into the country with his dogs, music and film. We are particularly pleased to have Mark join Norseal as we have been chasing him for over 2 years to get him on the team. Darren Heslop joins our warehouse team being formally 'on the buses'. Someone tell him who Olive was please as he is far too young to remember. A keep fit enthusiast Darren says he enjoys regular workouts at the local gym as well as walking and gardening. Darren has another passion which is football, a fervent Newcastle supporter he can regularly be found mulling over the season with his workmates. Darren is particularly well received as the warehouse never has enough time and I will not allow anything but 100% performance, as any Norseal customers are only too aware.
